Welcome to the Folger! The Folger Shakespeare Library is a world-class center for scholarship, learning, culture, and the arts. It is home to the world’s largest Shakespeare collection and is a primary repository for rare materials from the early modern period. We are excited that you will be visiting us, whether it’s to take up a sponsored, residential Fellowship, to participate in a Folger Institute program, or to work on your own self-directed research.

With a state-of-the-art conservation lab, cultural programs that feature theatre, music, poetry, exhibits, lectures, and family programs, an education division leading the way in the national teaching of Shakespeare, and a research division that produces the popular Folger Editions of Shakespeare’s works as well as the respected journal, Shakespeare Quarterly, the Folger Shakespeare Library is much more than books and manuscripts.
