Shakespeare Set Free

This interdisciplinary workshop, modeled after the Folger’s innovative Shakespeare Set Free book series, offers a performance-based approach to teaching Shakespeare to students of all abilities in grades 3-12. By using theater games and other activities, teachers will discover ways to help their students explore Shakespeare’s plays. Workshop fee of $70 includes our new toolkit containing a flash drive with teaching materials, dvds, "Page-to-Stage" festival handbook, and a copy of Shakespeare Set Free.

This workshop provides instruction on how to edit a script, cast a play, conduct rehearsals, and other techniques necessary for putting on a Shakespeare play with your students. Workshop fee is $50 and includes the Folger "Page-to-Stage" handbook.

Poetry Inspired by Shakespeare

This interactive workshop will give teachers the opportunity to read poetry based on Shakespeare’s plays and try their hands at writing Shakespeare-inspired poems of their own. No poetry-writing experience necessary. Workshop fee is $15.

This workshop will demonstrate a series of exciting new approaches and online resources for teaching Shakespeare, including Hypertext, Audacity, Voice Thread, Wordle, Pixton, Voxopop, and MovieMaker/iMovie that will challenge students to create authentic web-based assignments such as voice and video discussion threads, podcasts, YouTube Videos, and illuminated texts. The workshop fee is $50.
