The interior of the Folger Shakespeare Library is designed in a Tudor style, in harmony with the library's Renaissance holdings. Appalachian white oak was used for the paneling in the Great Hall, the Old Reading Room, and the Elizabethan Theatre.
Among the Folger's interior showpieces are the Great Hall used for exhibitions, with its 30-foot strapwork ceiling; the intimate Elizabethan Theatre, built to evoke an innyard of Shakespeare's day; the library's two distinctive Reading Rooms; the Founders' Room; and the well-appointed Board Room and Tea Room. The distinctive Seven Ages of Man stained-glass window is the crowning feature of the Old Reading Room.
