The Folger Board Room is used for many purposes, including, as the name suggests, meetings of the Board of Trustees. Although the Folger is a privately endowed, independent institution, Henry Folger requested in his will that it be administered by the trustees of his alma mater, Amherst College. Today the Board also includes members of the Folger and Washington, DC, communities.
The Board Room is decorated in an English Regency style with mahogany tables and high-backed chairs. The walls are hung with important paintings from the Folger collection, and three-dimensional works are on display on some tables. The room also has a large retractable screen for slide and film presentations. The Tea Room adjoins the Board Room, and the two spaces are sometimes used together for special events and scholarly conferences.
