Volunteer ushers play a vital role in the success of the Folger Shakespeare Library's numerous performances and programs . Ushers assist with welcoming audiences, ticket-taking, distributing playbills, seating patrons, and selling concessions. In exchange for volunteering, ushers enjoy the performance as our guest, and although performances often sell out, every effort is made to provide ushers with seats. We try to schedule ushers for their first choice of performances. However, due to the popularity of some of our events, an usher may sometimes be scheduled for their second or third choice.

Volunteer check-in times
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday 6:30 pm
Friday & Saturday evenings 7:00 pm
Friday Folger Consort 6:45 pm
Saturday & Sunday matinees 1:00 pm
Sunday evenings 6:00 pm
Weekday student matinees 10:30 am
Check-in times may vary for special events. Ushers will be notified of any variation in the scheduled check-in times.
No previous ushering experience is required.
