Install Luna Insight

How to download and install Luna Insight® software on your PC or Mac:

1. Go to Luna Imaging
   
2. Click Support at the upper right
   
3. Click Software Downloads
   
4. Select Download Now next to Insight v6.2(00) NOTE: Updates to v6 are frequent, but "backwards compatible." In other words, you can safely ignore any differences in the sub-version numbers that appear after the decimal point.
   
5. Select Download from the Insight 6 box
   
6. Under Insight (with no other wording), select your operating system
   
7. If you have a choice to download / save file or open, choose download / save file
   
8. An Install Insight icon appears on the desk top. Double click on the icon
   
9. If a Security Warning appears, click Run
   
10. Choose the Advanced option when it appears
    
11. Watch for the message Specify the URL / address for your organization's Insight User Manager
    
12. Change the User Manager Address to titania.folger.edu
    
13. When prompted, select No, you are not upgrading (even if you are)
    
14. In Windows, a shortcut should install in a Luna Imaging folder in the All Programs menu in your Start menu. Otherwise you can go to C:\Program Files\LunaImaging\Insight 6.0 and find the application file Insight 6.0.
    
15. On a Mac, Luna Imaging is in the applications folder. The application file is Insight 6.0
    
16. Log in using username guest & password guest

Troubleshooting:

After installing the software, are you experiencing slow start-up or response time on a wireless connection? You can configure your installation to run in "Wireless Compatibility Mode." Here's how:

In Windows, go to C:\Program Files\LunaImaging\Insight 6.0\.

On a Mac, go to Applications\LunaImaging\Insight 6.0\

• Locate the file called "Insight.dat." 
• In Windows, right-click on that file and choose "Open > With > Notepad." You may need to select Notepad from a list of applications.
• On a Mac, ctrl-click on that file and choose "Open With > TextEdit." You may need to scroll through an alphabetical list of applications to select TextEdit.
• Once you have opened Insight.dat, scroll through the document until you find the following stanza:

# WirelessCompatibilityMode - Enable this property if you are experiencing
# problems using Insight with a wireless network.  This has been found
# to alleve these problems on some wireless interfaces, including the
# Intel PRO 2100 used by Centrino notebooks.
#
# Disable:  0 (default)
# Enable:   1

#WirelessCompatibilityMode = 0

• Edit the final line of the stanze, removing the "#" and changing the "0" to a "1" so that it now reads:

WirelessCompatibilityMode = 1

• Save and exit "Insight.dat" and relauch Insight. Your connection should be quicker now.
