Winter Events at the Folger and in the Area

Events at the Folger:

From October 1, 2013 to January 12, 2014, the newly renovated Exhibition Hall displays the exhibition Here is a Play Fitted. The exhibition highlights broad shifts in the theatrical production of Shakespeare's plays over the centuries and the sometimes surprising changes made to the texts. It focuses on four of his most famous plays, including Othello and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The Folger Theatre continues its 2013-2014 season with one of Shakespeare’s most famous history plays, Richard III, which runs from January 28 to March 9. For more information, please visit the Folger Theatre's webpage.

The Folger Consort celebrates this holiday season from December 13-22 with CHRISTMAS IN NEW SPAIN: Early Music in Mexico and Peru, a concert that highlights music from 16th- and 17th-century Latin American and Spanish composers. The Consort then begins the new year with a musical interpretation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in BRAVE NEW WORLD: Music of the Tempest, performed on January 10 and 11. For more information about both of these performances, please visit the Folger Consort's webpage.

Events around Capitol Hill:

Washington, DC offers activities for practically any interest. For those interested in history and culture, the Smithsonian Museums are full of fascinating exhibits to explore.
