The Folger Shakespeare Library's annual gala is its most important fundraiser of the year, providing vital support to the outstanding cultural and educational programming the Folger offers to the greater Washington area and beyond. And, as one of Washington's most elegant social evenings, this special event is attended by the leaders of the social, business, government, and diplomatic communities.
The 2012 Folger Gala will celebrate Shakespeare, games, and foolery, while also marking the library’s 80th anniversary. This year’s entertainment, titled “Wait, Wait, Forsoothe,” is the Folger’s own rendition of the hilarious radio program, developed and directed by Aaron Posner with Ken Ludwig, and hosted by Roxanne Roberts. These festivities in our Elizabethan theater will be preceded by a cocktail reception in our Exhibition Hall and followed by a black-tie dinner in our beautiful Reading Rooms.
