Marking the Library’s 80th anniversary, the 2012 Folger Gala was a great success. With the generosity of our sponsors, guests, and donors, we raised more than $230,000 for the Folger Shakespeare Library’s work bringing the very best in Shakespeare education and performance to schoolchildren, scholars, and audiences in the Washington area and beyond.
We extend a very special thanks to Gala Co-Chairs, David and Margaret Gardner, and the Gala Committee whose leadership and efforts helped achieve this success. Thank you also to Honorary Co-Chairs, the British Ambassador and Lady Westmacott, for their patronage and for the kind sentiments about the Folger that Ambassador Westmacott shared in his remarks.
More than 200 guests enjoyed the hilarious “Wait, Wait…Forsooth!” developed and directed by Aaron Posner with Ken Ludwig. We were delighted to welcome Roxanne Roberts and Carl Kasell to our stage, along with panelists, Ken Ludwig, Donna Denizé, and Arthur Phillips, as well as surprise participants called up from the audience, including Representative Rush Holt of New Jersey.
