Stipend and Other Business
The National Endowment of the Humanities will provide each participant with a stipend of $3,330 in order to cover a significant portion of participant costs: your travel to and from Washington, DC, your meals, and housing at American University. Your first stipend check of $1,650 (minus half of your housing costs) will be disbursed upon your arrival in DC. The second stipend check of $1,650 (minus the remainder of your housing costs) will be given to you at the halfway point, on July 11th.
Participants may be able to earn graduate credits. Details will be posted as they become available. The Folger Shakespeare Library is not a credit-giving institution; however, we will provide participants with a letter detailing the scope of the work completed during Teaching Shakespeare for any participant who wants to apply to his or her school district for continuing education units, professional development, or in-service credits.
