Henry Clay and Emily Jordan Folger founded the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC, to share their collection of Shakespeare's plays and memorabilia with the nation. The library was dedicated on Shakespeare’s 368th birthday on April 23, 1932.
The Folgers loved the library so much that their ashes are buried in the library's Reading Room.
