Emily Dickinson Birthday Tribute Reading

The annual Emily Dickinson Birthday Tribute reading, sponsored with the Poetry Society of America (PSA), celebrates Dickinson's fierce and compelling influence on poetry in America.

Each year, poets from diverse backgrounds are invited to talk about Dickinson and read her work as well as their own.

2014 Emily Dickinson Birthday Tribute Reader: Rafael Campo

"I am afraid to own a Body/I am afraid to own a Soul." As physician and poet, Dr. Rafael Campo bridges the worlds of arts and science in this annual poetry reading in honor of Emily Dickinson, whose poetry (quoted above) explores both the physical and the metaphysical, the all-too-mortal body and the immortal soul. Stay after the reading to taste the rum and fruit flavored black cake made from Dickinson's own recipe. Click here to purchase tickets for the reading.
