Midsummer Night's Dream Lithographs - Part II

Trnka. Lithographs of scenes from A midsummer night’s dream. Color print, 1961

Adopt for: $1,300

Jirí Trnka, 1912–1969. A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Prague: Artia, 1961. Lithograph no. 2 of 5.

Czech illustrator, puppet-maker, and animator Jirí Trnka is probably best-known in America for his surreal 1959 puppet film of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. These Midsummer Night’s Dream lithographs, designed for the German market, go even further into his visual imagination. Finding a complete set on the market is rare.
