The depth and scope of the Folger's collection of Shakespeare materials are unequalled in the world. Famously, the Folger holds 79 copies of the 1623 First Folio of Shakespeare's plays, as well as more than 200 of the early Shakespeare quartos—small, inexpensive editions that are in some cases even rarer. But the Folger also holds a wealth of other Shakespeareana, including the later Folios and printed editions, real-estate documents for Shakespeare's holdings, authentic and alleged portraits of the Bard, artworks, playbills, promptbooks, costumes, films, and much more.
