Galen Brokaw (Ph.D.,
Indiana University, 1999) is an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University at Buffalo,
State University of New York. He specializes in colonial Latin American
historiography and indigenous writing. He is currently working on
two research projects: the first deals with the Peruvian khipu
and its interaction with alphabetic writing in colonial historiography;
the second focuses on the poetics of European colonial discourse
in early New World chronicles.
