Poet Gwendolyn Brooks said, “Poetry is life distilled.” In this 43rd season of the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series at the Folger Shakespeare Library, each poet will aim to demonstrate that quote—to purify everyday language, to let poetry concentrate and extract what is essential in life.

Join us in 2011/12 where every reading is a new and dynamic opportunity for you to be introduced to an emerging poet or reintroduced to one of your favorites. All readings are followed by a complimentary wine reception and book signing. Books by the poets are available for purchase in the Folger Gift Shop before each reading and throughout the season.
