| This new and imaginative assortment of period works performed by the Ensemble Galilei moves from the stately courts of medieval Spain and eighteenth-century France to the rugged isles of Scotland and Ireland. Mingled into the mix are the group’'s original compositions, written with a traditional Celtic flavor. Liz Knowles, fiddle; Debbie Nuse, Scottish smallpipes and fiddle; Sue Richards, Celtic harp; Carolyn Anderson Surrick, viola da gamba; Sarah Weiner, oboe, recorders, and pennywhistles; with Jan Hagiwara, percussion, and Nancy Karpeles, bowed psaltery. 2001. |
