Detailed Description

**Note: Please order this item from our new website**

Macbeth: The DVD Edition includes the Folger Shakespeare Library edition of Shakespeare's Macbeth -- facing-page explanatory notes, scene-by-scene plot summaries, illustrations from the Folger archives -- combined here with a bonus DVD of a performance of Macbeth recorded before a rapt audience in the Folger's intimate Elizabethan Theatre. Conceived and directed by Teller (of Penn & Teller) and Aaron Posner, this acclaimed production showcases the inventive magic of Teller, who, with Posner, contributes a new foreword to this edition, writing about their vision of the play as a "supernatural horror thriller." Macbeth: The DVD Edition is the perfect volume for those encountering the play for the first time and for those finding brilliant new insights into a classic.

Rank 5 Macbeth DVD Submitted: 03/15/2012

This stage version has helped me teach Macbeth on a higher level and has helped my students learn on a far higher plain. They laugh at the porter jokes and they gasp when the ghost appears. They cringe in fear at the witches chant while making the brew and they applaude MacDuff's final deed, being of no woman born. I am please that Shakespeare gets such a reaction out of regular English 12 students. Please make more plays accessable in this format. It comes alive!
