In the year 1500, London was the late medieval capital of a country ruled by the first Tudor monarch, Henry VIII.  The city's skyline was defined by the spire of St. Paul's Cathedral.  About 50, 000 people called it home.

The original print by Georg Braun, is a hand-colored engraving done in 1574 from Civitates Orbis Terrarum and is in the Folger collection.  Paper size: 13" x 19", Image size approx.: 9.5x13.5".
