Shakespeare Steward Award

Folger Education's annual Shakespeare Steward Award honors outstanding contributions to the innovative teaching of Shakespeare in American classrooms.

In 2013, we're proud to present the award to Ralph Alan Cohen of the American Shakespeare Center.

The first recipient of the Shakespeare Steward Award was Pennsylvania teacher Sue Biondo-Hench of Carlisle High School in 2007 on the 20th anniversary year of the Central Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, which she helped to establish.

Other recipients include: Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Gail Kern Paster, Jeanne Addison Roberts, Joe Craft and Denver Public Schools, and Peggy O'Brien.
