Ballads and Brawls for the Bard

Newberry Consort

Ballads and Brawls for the Bard
In the Elizabethan Theatre
March 9 - 11, 2007

Tracing the threads of music from Shakespeare's time and his plays, the Consort weaves a rich tapestry of songs heard in early performances of As You Like It and The Tempest, as well as madcap masque dances, melancholy ballads, fiddle tunes, and other popular forms that are the musical warp and woof of Shakespeare's theatrical world.
