The Fairy Queen
In the Elizabethan Theatre
April 13- 15, 2007
As a grand finale to its 30th season and a highlight of the Shakespeare in Washington celebration, the Consort presents Henry Purcell's magical 1691 semi-opera based on A Midsummer Night's Dream. For this rare concert presentation of The Fairy Queen, one of the composer's wittiest and most ravishing scores, the Consort has assembled a period orchestra and a stellar cast of virtuoso voices.
