Go beyond the English and literary programs in your school!
The Folger offers several free seminars and special programs just for high school students.
High School Fellowship Program
This fall semester, interdisciplinary seminar is led by noted scholars and theater practitioners and gives students the opportunity to explore Shakespeare's plays as a scholar, actor, and audience member. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited to apply.
Shakespeare's Sisters: Five Centuries of Poetry by Women
For ten weeks each spring, students explore British and American women poets from the mid-16th century to the present and write poetry of their own. No prior experience with writing poetry is necessary. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited to apply.
Writers in Schools
The PEN/Faulkner Foundation brings nationally known writers into public high school classrooms. Students receive copies of the author's book and teachers are supported with pre-visit resources and activities.
Internships
Many divisions of the Folger offer internships for students to learn about the daily operations of a research library and cultural and educational center.
