Stories from the Folger Vaults

Entrance, Folger Shakespeare Library

New this summer, "Stories from the Folger Vaults" is a lively, informal series of talks featuring the Folger and its collections. Talks are held on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8pm and also include a special "after hours" viewing of the current exhibition, The Curatorial Eye: Discoveries from the Folger Vault.


All events are free and open to the public. No advance reservations required.


Topics include:


July 15, 6–8pm

"Is This Shakespeare?"

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the Janssen portrait, which was recently linked to the latest Shakespeare portrait controversy.


July 29, 6–8pm

"Conservation Lab: Preserving History"

Talk with staff and see examples of the Folger conservation lab's pioneering work repairing and maintaining historic materials.


August 12, 6–8pm  

Learn the secrets of black and white magic from the age of Shakespeare from a rare 16th–century book of spells.
