William "Walwyn's 'Darling': The Happy Life of an Ageing Former Radical"



On Thursday, 19 November, Derek Hirst will deliver a Barbara Bradfield Taft Memorial Lecture, sponsored by the Folger Institute’s Center for the History of British Political Thought.

 

Dr. Hirst is the William Elliott Smith Professor of History at Washington University in St. Louis and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. His books include Representative of the People?: Voters and Voting in England under the Early Stuarts (1975); England in Conflict, 1603-1660: Kingdom, Community, Commonwealth (1999); and, co-edited with Steven Zwicker, The Cambridge Companion to Andrew Marvell (forthcoming 2010).

 

This free, public lecture begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Foulke Conference Room, which is located on the first floor of 301 East Capitol Street, SE, Washington, DC. A reception will follow. Please contact institute@folger.edu for more information.
