Music of Vivaldi
Gloria
January 9-10, 2009
Venice, the beautiful city on the water, was also a place of great musical influence and the home to Baroque master Antonio Vivaldi. His most famous sacred piece, the Gloria, is a brilliant example of his inventive, dramatic, and energetic style. This masterpiece is performed with its introductory movements for soprano and orchestra and complemented by other virtuoso works for Baroque orchestra, choir, and soloists in the magnificent space of Washington National Cathedral.
