Set as it is in a rare book library, “Shakespeare: From the Globe to the Global” is uniquely designed to mesh hands-on research and scholarly inquiry. Working with the professional staff of the Folger and a distinguished international faculty, twenty college teachers and graduate students from across the country will have the chance to scrutinize key holdings from the full range of the Folger’s capacious collection. Each of the five weeks of the institute will feature case studies designed to provide a point of entry to larger questions, contexts, and resources. Through such case studies, the institute will offer an intellectually challenging and energizing experience.
The bibliographies below are drawn from the primary and secondary sources proposed by the director and faculty. Prospective applicants may also want to consult the online catalogue, Hamnet, for further information on the Folger’s holdings. Please also check the “help” button in Hamnet for an explanation of what is, and is not, in the online catalogue. Address further inquiries to Head of Reference, Dr. Georgianna Ziegler, at reference@folger.edu.
