John Frederick Nims

John Frederick Nims’s fascination with science is apparent in the formal intricacies and the complex structures of his work, as well as in the content of his poems. His book The Six-Cornered Snowflake won the 1992 Melville Cane Award from The Poetry Society of America. The driving force behind poetry’s New Formalism, Nims taught for many years at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and is the former editor of Poetry magazine.
