     “If notes were visible
     perhaps they would drift crimson,
     shimmer like autumn leaves“
From “At the Train Stop” from Geography of Jazz by Lenard D. Moore,
published by 2020 Blair reprint of collection originally published by Mountains & Rivers Press.

Acclaimed jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut joins poets Kyle Dargan and Lenard D. Moore for an intimate improvisation on words and music. Together they explore the magic that materializes when artists collaborate.

Part reading, part concert, each artist shares their powerful compositions to spark and inspire one another in this free style performance.

The evening concludes with a discussion between Cyrus, Kyle, and Lenard and Folger Director of Programming Karen Ann Daniels, with Folger Director Michael Witmore.

Autumn Leaves was recorded live at the Arts Club of Washington, November 4, 2021.
