The PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction has been given since 1981 to the best works of fiction published by an American citizen in a calendar year. The Award is the United States' largest peer-juried prize in the field. The 2018 Award Winner is Joan Silber for her novel, Improvement, and the finalists are Hernán Díaz, Samantha Hunt, Achy Obejas, and Jesmyn Ward. The ceremony includes readings by the winner and finalists and remarks from this year's judges: Andrea Barrett, Stacey D'Erasmo, and Alex Espinoza.

Ron Charles, the editor of Book World at The Washington Post, will be the MC of this year's ceremony.

Following the Award ceremony, there will be a formal reception featuring specialty cocktails, an hors d’oeuvres buffet, and beer provided by Bluejacket Brewery. Join us in celebrating our Award winner and esteemed finalists, with the exception of Jesmyn Ward, who is unable to attend. It will be a night filled with literature, music, and entertainment!
