Volunteer ushers

Volunteer ushers play a vital role in the success of the Folger’s numerous performances and programs. Ushers assist with welcoming visitors, scanning tickets, distributing playbills, seating, and other exciting opportunities!

Under the supervision of the Visitor Services team, including House Managers, ushers graciously welcome visitors to the Folger from around the local community and the world. At the Folger, we strive to maintain a welcoming environment for all and ensure everyone has a memorable experience.

Folger ushers are essential members of our daily operations and help implement the vision the daytime staff work tirelessly to produce. A welcoming demeanor and a willingness to help are key aspects of gracious hospitality, as well as being a welcoming presence to our visitors. In exchange for volunteering, ushers enjoy the performance as our guest. (Performances often sell out, but we make every effort to provide ushers with seats.)
