Welcome! Folger Theatre reopens this November with The Winter’s Tale. The rest of our building, including our new exhibition halls and the Reading Room, will remain closed until 2024 as renovation work continues.

What to expect: Attending an event in the theater

Entering the building

Use the entrance at the corner of 3rd Street and East Capitol Street. (No other entrances will be open to the public until 2024.) Follow the sloping ramps down through the gardens to the east entrance doors. Enter the east lobby, located below street level in the newly constructed Adams Pavilion.

Need to buy or pick up tickets? Our staff will be happy to help at the Welcome desk in the east lobby.

Hours on event days

East lobby

  • Tuesday – Friday: Opens at 5pm
  • Saturday – Sunday: Opens at 12pm


Doors open a half hour before the event start time.

Use the east entrance at the corner of East Capitol Street and 3rd Street. After entering the east lobby, use either the stairs or the elevator to reach the theater lobby or the balcony level of the theater.
