Amrita Sen

Amrita Sen is Associate Professor and Deputy Director, UGC-MMTTC, University of Calcutta, and affiliated member of the Department of English. She is the editor of Digital Shakespeares from the Global South (2022). She has co-edited with J. Caitlin Finlayson Civic Performance: Pageantry and Entertainments in Early Modern London (2020) and with Julia Schleck a special issue of the Journal for Early Modern Cultural Studies on 'Alternative Histories of the East India Company' (2017). She has published essays and book chapters on East India Company women, Bollywood Shakespeares, Mughal collecting and early modern ethnography. Her current projects include a book on early modern English encounters with India, and with Amrita Dhar, a co-edited collection Shakespeare in the 'Post' Colonies: Legacies, Cultures and Social Justice, and a special issue on 'Shakespeare in Bengal' with Borrowers and Lenders: A Journal of Shakespeare Appropriation.
