Ananya Chakravarti

is associate professor of history at Georgetown University. Her first book, The Empire of Apostles: Religion, Accommodation and the Imagination of Empire in Early Modern Brazil and India (Oxford University Press, 2018) was awarded an honorable mention for the Association of Asian Studies Bernard Cohn Book Prize, presented to the best first book on South Asia. She is currently working on her second monograph, a history of the Konkan coast, while on sabbatical with a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
