is Assistant Professor of History at the University of Maryland, College Park and is the author of Merchants of Medicines: The Commerce and Coercion of Health in Britain’s Long Eighteenth Century (University of Chicago Press, 2020). He is writing a new book on early modern conceptions of care across the Atlantic world.
