Sylvia Korman

Sylvia Korman (they/them) is a doctoral student in English at the CUNY Graduate Center.

Currently, they are working on a dissertation project that connects early modern boy actresses and early modern stage clowns, their non-normative physical embodiments, and their places within the inheritance structures of the nascent theater industry. Their research interests also include sound studies—in particular media of recorded, broadcast, and synthesized sound—as well as diva and trouser role performances in opera. They review opera as a regular contributor to online queer opera zine Parterre Box.
