In 2016, the Folger Shakespeare Library celebrated Shakespeare and his extraordinary legacy on the 400th anniversary of his death.

To commemorate the day of Shakespeare’s birth, and death, April 23, the Folger hosted an international live streaming event from the historic Paster Reading Room in Washington, DC. A diverse array of actors, community leaders, artists, and scholars shared their connections to Shakespeare through compelling performances and personal stories.
The program was broadcast on C-SPAN2 Book TV on Sat, April 23, 2016, noon - 1:30pm ET, followed by a national call-in show hosted by Book TV's Peter Slen with Shakespeare scholars Michael Witmore (Folger) and Ellen MacKay (Indiana University). The archived video from The Wonder of Will Live is available on the C-SPAN website.
