COVID-19 safety protocols

While Folger audiences and employees are no longer required to wear masks while attending performances or events, masks are welcome and remain an important preventive measure against COVID-19. Anyone needing or choosing to wear one is encouraged to do so.

Mask-required performances

While Folger Theatre no longer requires masks at most performances, we recognize that some patrons may prefer to attend in a fully masked environment. At the request of audience members, Folger Theatre has designated several performances during the 2025-2026 season as mask-required for all audience members, staff, and volunteers. If you need a mask, we are happy to provide one to you.

COVID-19 warning

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and patrons with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By attending a Folger performance you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold the Folger Shakespeare Library liable for any illness or injury.
