Folger Consort is the award-winning early music ensemble-in-residence at the Folger Shakespeare Library. Founding artistic directors Robert Eisenstein and Christopher Kendall established the ensemble in 1977, and continue to create programs that offer opportunities to discover and enjoy music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. Folger Consort's 2019/20 season highlights the breadth of early music from Italy—featuring music of Machiavelli's Florence, Vivaldi and Corelli at Christmas, masterworks by Palestrina and Monteverdi, and more—with renowned guest artists including vocal ensemble Stile Antico.
