Free digital guide to the Folger

Explore the Folger with the help of our digital guide, available for free through Bloomberg Connects.

Audio tour and exhibition highlights

The guide features an “Art and Architecture” audio tour of the Folger. This tour is narrated by Holly Twyford, an award-winning DC actor who has been in many Folger Theatre productions.

The guide also features exhibition highlights with insights from curators.

For first-time visitors, the guide provides helpful tips and information about what you can experience at the Folger: events and programs, Quill & Crumb, and the Folger Shop. In addition, detailed building maps make it easier to find your way around.

How to use the guide

As you explore the Folger, there are a few ways in which you can use this guide to learn more about our historic building and current exhibitions. The Home screen of the guide is a good starting place: from there you can find our exhibitions and audio tours, as well as information that will enhance your visit. However, you can also use the Lookup and Map tools to search, and scanning a QR code at an audio tour stop in the building will take you directly to the relevant screen within the guide.

Lookup

During your visit you may encounter audio stop numbers in historic rooms, next to works of art, or attached to object labels in our exhibition galleries. You can enter these numbers in the Search bar of the guide to listen to the audio.

Map

The Map area will initially show you an Exterior map of our grounds. Click on the building icon to access the interior maps of the Lower Level (our entrance lobbies, exhibition halls, and shop) and Level 1, where you’ll find the Theatre, the Great Hall, and the Reading Room. All of the stops on our “Art and Architecture” audio tour are featured on these maps.
