Debra Ann Byrd is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Take Wing And Soar Productions and the Harlem Shakespeare Festival, as well as an emerging playwright and award-winning actress. She recently worked with story coach Tanya Taylor Rubinstein and Tina Packer of Shakespeare & Company to develop and create her new one-woman show, BECOMING OTHELLO: A Black Girl’s Journey. In the fall of 2019, Debra Ann first performed BECOMING OTHELLO, to critical acclaim, at Shakespeare’s Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK. She held an Artist-in-Residence Fellowship at the Folger in 2018 - 2019.
