"Folger Theatre is on a hot streak..."— DCist
Folger Theatre has announced its season of exciting plays in unique venues.
Nathan the Wise, produced in association with Theater J, is scheduled to begin performances on March 16 and run through April 10, 2022. This funny and timely 18th-century Shakespeare-styled play is chock full of mistaken identities, foiled romances, and relationships across cultural and religious divides. Michael Bloom’s smart new adaptation celebrates the common humanity that unites us all.
Progress for the Folger Shakespeare Playhouse in the gorgeous atrium of the National Building Museum continues, and we eagerly anticipate bringing A Midsummer Night's Dream to the stage on July 12, 2022. The National Building Museum’s Summer Block Party, of which the Folger Shakespeare Playhouse is the centerpiece, will engage audiences by day and host this exciting production of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy by night.
While exact dates are not yet available, Round House and Folger Theatre are working to reschedule The Tempest. Shakespeare's tale of betrayal, reconciliation, and love is part fairy tale, part romance–and all magic. In this imaginative staging by Aaron Posner and Teller, Prospero's island transforms into a traveling tent show of trickery and amazement.
