Thursday, March 30, 2017, 7:00 pm
Folger Theatre

A stunning concert performance of Galileo’s Torch melds the worlds of drama and music. At the heart of the performance is Starry Messenger, performed by the Folger Consort and blended with James Reston Jr.’s play based on his biography, Galileo: A Life. Galileo’s Torch, featuring Edward Gero and directed by Robert Richmond, recounts the inquisition of Galileo Galilei, a brilliant, mercurial genius whose discovery of a dynamic universe changed the world forever.  The performance will carry the audience from Galileo’s first observations of the heavens into a world of 21st-century space exploration and modern music.
