This event is currently full. However, tickets are still available for the evening performance of Sense and Sensibility. There is a second Come for the Dancing, Stay for the Show event on November 4th.
Join the Folger for a pre-show lesson in English Country Dance led by ECD in DC founder and director Michelle Sebastian with members of her performance group. Have you always wanted to dance like the Dashwoods or boogie with the Bennets? Learn the ropes (or channel your inner Darcy and glower in the corner.)
English Country Dance is a social, folk dance form, which has its earliest documented instances in the late 16th century and was popular through the Regency era of Jane Austen. The lesson will take place in the beautiful Paster Reading Room at the Folger and signature cocktails will be available for purchase.
All are welcome – no experience necessary, only comfortable, non-slip shoes, and the desire to put your best foot forward!
After you work up an appetite dancing, grab a bite to eat from Sixes and Sevens (@sixes_sevensDC), who will be parked outside the theatre. They will be selling a variety of delicious British style items including bangers and mash, soups, scones, and fine teas.
Use the Ladies Night special performance price and pre-purchase this event, other special activities, a signature cocktail, and a ticket to Sense and Sensibility all at once!
